The main thing Budō offers to me is a philosophy of life. The philosophy of Budō is respect and discipline. You give 100% of whatever you do, in every activity.
I guess for me its the all encompassing word, education. If willing and open to learning budo education covers most aspects of life from basic manners through to compassion etc. What we lack in budo is not the pupils but the teachers to teach and federations to support.
I should add the majority of dojo today are sporting clubs. Having said that in my life time I have seen sports loose their genuine code of values and ethics into individual pursuits for those who chase medals and glory without the true value of sportsmanship. Budo today are in general rather a mess. Too political and individualised. For budo to live on we need to return to basics. That is not going to happen��
